Accomplishments of the Order

Congressional Charter. Provides recognition for MOWW as a leading national non-profit veterans organization.

Patriotic Education Activities. Sponsors youth leadership conferences to spread the word about individual responsibility, citizenship, patriotism, and the free enterprise system.

ROTC Programs. Supported the establishment and growth of ROTC programs during the years prior to World War II and continues to support and recognize outstanding cadets in Junior and Senior ROTC units throughout the country.

Boy and Girl Scout Programs. Offers recognition for achievement at the highest levels in the scouting programs and strongly supports their programs.

Massing of the Colors. Instituted in the 1920s, now celebrated in communities across the nation as a stirring patriotic ceremony, currently hosted by MOWW chapters throughout the United States.

Distinguished Service Award. Presents this award each year to nationally recognized patriots, who are honored for their extraordinary contributions to our national defense.

Officer Review magazine. Published in 10 issues annually, generating numerous awards over the years for articles written by members of the Order. Promotes national security issues and the Uniformed Services.

Armed Forces Day. Originally established as “Army Day,” as result of the efforts of the Order, and converted to “Armed Forces Day” in 1950 on the third Saturday in May, by the Congress.
